Description
The cryptic loach catfish is a loach catfish (Amphiliidae) from fast-flowing, clear streams and rivers of tropical Africa. The species grows to about 8 cm and has an elongate, flattened, brown body without bony plates, with barbels around the mouth, adapted to life in strong current. As a bottom-dweller it wedges among gravel and stones and snaps at insect larvae and small invertebrates. The fish is harmless to humans.
