Description

The panda corydoras is a small armoured catfish (Callichthyidae) from clear headwater streams of the Ucayali drainage in Peru. The species grows to about 4 cm and has a cream-white body with a black eye band, a black spot on the dorsal fin and a black tail-base spot, like a panda. As a bottom-dweller it probes soft sand with its barbels in groups for worms, crustaceans and insect larvae. The fish is harmless to humans and is much loved in the aquarium trade.
