Description
The spotted tinselfish is a deep-sea fish (family Grammicolepididae) occurring worldwide in the deep ocean. The species reaches about 17 cm and has a very thin, deep, disc-shaped, highly silvery body with dark spots and a small, protrusible mouth. It lives benthically on the continental slope. Its diet consists of small zooplankton and small invertebrates. Because of its life in deeper water the species is little studied. It is harmless to humans and of no fishery value.
