Description

The species has a streamlined, pink to reddish body with yellow tints and an elongated upper ray of the tail fin that projects like a thread. It lives on sand and mud bottoms of coastal waters. As a bottom predator it feeds mainly on small crustaceans, supplemented with worms and small fishes. It is a valued food fish. The species is harmless to humans.
