Description
The mi-iuy croaker is a large croaker (Sciaenidae) from coastal waters of the northwest Pacific, off East Asia. The species grows to about 70 cm and has an elongate, dark silver-grey body with a large mouth and stout ear-stones; like other croakers it makes a drumming sound with its swim bladder. As a predator it hunts fish, shrimp and crustaceans over sand and mud bottoms. It is an important food fish. The fish is harmless to humans.
