The Crowned netdevil (Linophryne coronata) is a saltwater fish of the family Linophrynidae that grows up to 3 cm.
Description
The crowned netdevil is a bizarre deep-sea anglerfish from the Atlantic Ocean. The female grows to only about 3 cm and has a round, black body, a fishing organ with a luminous lure on the head and a branched, luminous chin barbel. Males are dwarf-sized and attach as parasites to the female. It lives at great depth to about 1500 metres and uses its lights to draw prey right in front of its mouth. The fish is harmless to humans. The IUCN has not evaluated the species.
