Description
The lined dottyback is a colourful reef fish from the eastern Indian Ocean, off Western Australia. The species grows to about 25 cm and has an elongate, reddish-brown body with numerous fine blue longitudinal lines. As a bottom-bound reef-dweller it lives in crevices and holes of rocky reefs to about forty metres deep and hunts small fish and crustaceans. It is territorial and guards a refuge. The fish is harmless to humans.
