Description
The Ibiti sucker characin is a small characin bottom-fish (Parodontidae) from fresh water of southeastern Brazil. The species grows to about 11 cm and has a streamlined, silvery body with an underslung, sucking mouth with which it clings and rasps growth. As a bottom-dweller it lives in clear, flowing streams over stone and gravel and grazes algae and diatoms. The fish is harmless to humans.
