Description
The glass darter tetra is a very small characin-like bottom fish (Crenuchidae) from fresh water of the upper Orinoco region in South America. The species grows to about 7 cm and has a slender, almost transparent body with a dark shoulder spot. As a bottom-dweller it darts in short hops over sand and gravel bottoms of clear streams in search of small zooplankton and larvae. The fish is harmless to humans.
