Description
The ghost flathead is a ghost flathead (Hoplichthyidae) from deeper waters of the ocean. The species has a strongly flattened, elongate body with a broad, bony-armoured head and a row of bony thorn plates along the flank, and yellowish tints. It lives bottom-bound on soft bottoms of the continental shelf and slope. As an ambush hunter it takes small crustaceans and small fishes. The species is harmless to humans.
