Description
The large yellow croaker is a croaker (Sciaenidae) from coastal and estuarine water of the northwest Pacific, off China and adjacent seas. The species grows to about 80 cm and has an elongate, silvery body with a golden-yellow belly and flanks. As a bottom-oriented predator it lives in shallow coastal water to about one hundred and twenty metres and hunts fish and crustaceans; males drum with the swim bladder. It is a very important food and aquaculture fish. The fish is harmless to humans.
