Description
The collared carpetshark is a small carpet shark (Parascylliidae) from coastal waters of eastern Australia. The species grows to about 85 cm and has a very slender, elongate, brownish body with a conspicuous dark band like a collar around the throat and scattered pale spots. As a nocturnal bottom-dweller it shelters by day on rocky and coral reefs and hunts small invertebrates and small fish at night. It lays eggs in horny capsules. The fish is harmless to humans.
