Description
Teijsmann's walking catfish is a walking catfish (Clariidae) from Southeast Asia. The species has an elongate body, a flattened head with four pairs of barbels and a long dorsal and anal fin. As an air-breather it can take oxygen from the air with an accessory organ and move on land for a short time. It lives concealed in small forest streams in primary forest, in slow-flowing or still water. It hunts small fishes and bottom invertebrates. The sturdy pectoral fin spines can inflict painful puncture wounds when handled.
