Description

The banded croaker is a croaker (Sciaenidae) from the southeastern Pacific. The species has an elongate, silvery body and can make drumming sounds with its swim bladder. It lives near the bottom in coastal waters, often near rocky structures. As a bottom hunter it feeds on small crustaceans, worms and small fishes. It is a local food fish. The species is harmless to humans.
