Description
The clown squeaker (Synodontis decorus) is a handsomely marked African catfish of the family Mochokidae (squeakers) from the Congo basin. The species has a silvery-grey to white body with large black spots, a barred tail and a strongly elongated first dorsal-fin ray that projects like a flag; it reaches about 32 cm. Like other squeakers it can make squeaking sounds with its pectoral fins, bears three pairs of barbels and strong fin spines, and is nocturnal. It is an omnivore searching the bottom for invertebrates, insect larvae and plant matter. Owing to its striking pattern the species is popular in the aquarium trade.
