Description

Doellojurado's skate is a skate from the southwest Atlantic and the waters around southern South America. The species grows to about 69 cm and has a flat, rhomboid body disc with rows of strong thorns over the back and tail. As a bottom-dweller it lives on sand and mud bottoms of the continental shelf and slope, between about 50 and 640 metres, and searches for crustaceans, worms and small fish. Like other skates it lays horny egg capsules. The fish is harmless to humans. The IUCN assesses the species as Least Concern (LC).
